New Members’ Evening

The new school year’s just started, and we’re getting back into the swing of singing again. It’s not long until our new members’ evening, where we showcase our repertoire, teach some songs, and encourage people to come along and try Red Leicester. As always, we are open to all and have no auditions.

Come and join us in the Secular Hall on Humberstone Gate in Leicester, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Wednesday the 21st of September (and hopefully the Wednesdays thereafter!).

Singing and dancing at our annual fundraiser

On Saturday the 9th of April 2011, Red Leicester Choir will be hosting an evening of song and dance at the Ukrainian Hall, to raise money for Shelter Housing Aid. We’ve teamed up with the Greenshoots Ceilidh Orchestra to provide excellent music to dance to as well as great singing to listen to – and there will be food available for a small charge. The Ukrainian Hall has a licensed bar.

Tickets are £6, or £4 for concessions, and are available at the door or in advance – call 0116 2703143 to reserve.

Videos of Red Leicester

Frank has cunningly located some videos of us singing before Professor Paul Rogers’ talk to the Leicester Secular Society. He’s put them into a playlist.

November Newsletter

Veronica has compiled the latest Red Leicester newsletter, with lots of information about past and future choir events and details of singing workshops and performances in the local area. It’s available to download here.

Time to catch our breath

After a very busy Autumn term so far, the choir has a bit of a break from gigging coming up, and we’re using that time to work on a few new songs to add to our repertoire. Our performance with Roy Bailey a couple of weeks ago was brilliant fun and a great success. We’re not used to singing on a pub stage with mics, but we rose to the challenge! Roy was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
